Bridges of Bellefontaine Bridge and Iron Company (1)
This is the first in a series that will feature the works and history of the Bellefontaine Bridge and Iron Company, a company of local historical interest. My initial research shows that this local company had built a number of bridges around Ohio and a few in other states. Further research is planned to try and shed light on more history surrounding this company and it’s projects.
I’ve been in contact with a gentleman from Elkhart, Indiana that has been corresponding with me about what he could and has been kind enough to provide me with some good leads and has already graced us with some beautiful pics.
Here is a fine example of Bellefontaine Bridge and Iron Company work that is in Marion County, Kansas. (A gentleman contacted me and informed me that this is actually in Illinois. -ed) It is a Pratt through truss bridge over Cottonwood River. [1]
